Community

  • A “gathering” place where individuals converse, meet, get to know each other, play, share jokes, stories, just taking an interest in each other;

  • Share interests in issues and causes such as politics, the environment, disease, an assignment, or chocolate;

  • Planning and organizing - class group, sports group;

  • Teambuilding - strengthening group relationships;

  • Work spaces for group meetings/interactions;

  • Learning spaces - online or in combination with face-to-face learning, groups, or individual.

Community is a way people can organize to achieve common ends. They share the common purpose of expanding the knowledge available by sharing with one another, or by jointly synthesizing new knowledge together. It carries a sense of support, trust and obligation.

Classroom 2.0
This community is a social network for educators exploring new technologies - launching blogs, signing on to social networks, and stepping up to the podcast mic to create innovative learning opportunities that encourage collaboration.

Classroom 2.0 is a conglomeration of other technologies bundled together. It has the ability to post web pages, discussion forums, instant messaging contact, uploading video/documents. It’s a way to talk to other educators throughout the world. If you see a conversation going on, go ahead and make a comment and get immediate feedback. I am one of the 3545 Classroom 2.0 members.
